Let’s work on building your confidence muscle today!
Confidence is about our perceived ability to engage successfully or at least adequately with our environment (a skill set). Confidences allows us to face new challenges, take responsibility and deal with difficult situations, & embrace opportunities.
Self-Esteem on the other hand, is the mental and emotional belief of our own value and worth as a person. It affects how we think, feel, and act.
A person can be self-confidence, but not have high self-esteem. However, if you have high self-esteem, it is likely that you are confident too.
Since confidence is about building a NEW SKILL, I encourage you to focus on choosing an external focus to build on.
So for example, today, being my first day back from vacation, I was a bit intimidated with doing heavy weighted #powercleans in #crossfit class. After practicing a few, as class went on, with each set, I felt more confident to be more “aggressive” and really interact with the bar. I could literally feel the improvement from my first power clean to my last power clean (after an hour workout).
So build on a skill you already possess (and enjoy), whether it’s painting, crocheting, building, learning a foreign language, cooking, and the list goes on.
Then take your new found confidence in this skill and #showoff. 😉
