Protein Chocolate Cherry Dessert Smoothie

I think that chocolate + cherry are a match made in heaven!!! I love having this as a post-workout meal and/or when I’m really craving something sweet. This is filling because it is high in nutrients and vitamins, yet low in calories. It’s also has a lot of volume!

Not only will you love it (if you’re a chocolate and cherry fan, of course), but so will your kids! This is a great alternative to ice cream, if you make it with the right consistency. My kids absolutely love this!

1.5-2 cups Frozen cherries

2 cups spinach

1 scoop protein powder (I love Vega Greens brand in Vanilla or Avena Original’s Raw Cocao Vegan Protein Powder)Tip: If you use a vegan protein powder, it will be thicker in consistency. If you use a whey protein powder, it will be runnier. Be sure to watch out for artificial sweeteners in whey protein powders, such as sucralose and Splenda. Use accordingly to the consistency you prefer. You can use chocolate flavour of course to make it more chocolatey.

2 tbsp cocoa powder

1 tsp tri-pow greens powder (spirulina, chlorella)

sprinkle cinnamon

chunks of dark chocolate

1/4 cup water (more if you want it runnier)

optional: add in a scoop of powdered probiotics

optional: If this is your post workout meal, add in 1 tsp L-Glutamine to help with recovery and decreasing muscle soreness.

Blend all the ingredients together (except the chunks of dark chocolate) in your blender until you have your desired consistency. Hand mix in the chunks of dark chocolate. Enjoy!!
